She was a vibrant and friendly presence, who was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Dolores and her husband, John moved to Shreveport, LA in 1966. They owned and operated the first McDonald's franchise in the area, which began their business, Gehl Incorporated for over 30 years.
Together they were pillars in their community. They enjoyed attending McDonald's conventions with other owner operators. They used their business to give back to the community they loved so much by donating refreshments city-wide. Dolores was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority later in her life. She liked playing tennis and golf, snow skiing and traveling the World. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and crafts. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rachel Gehl Kalbacher (John Mark Kalbacher), John Allen Gehl (Kathy Tuminello Gehl) and Kurt Joseph Gehl; grandchildren, Kristin Tower (Preston Tower), Erin Kalbacher (Andrew Larson), Leigh Kalbacher, Anna Gehl McMillion (Matt McMillion), Katie Gehl, Kurt Gehl, Elizabeth Gehl Keith and Kevin Gehl.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Conrad Gehl and her parents.
The family will be celebrating her life with a memorial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dolores' memory may be made to American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, and St. Joseph Catholic Church , 204 Patton Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71105 US.
