Doris W. Cater

Doris Winn Cater went home to Jesus on November 12, 2020 at the age of 94, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Cater was born to John and Pauline Winn on December 28, 1925 in Sarepta, LA. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker, assisted her husband with his business and also worked in the daycare at Sunset Acres Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church and attending her Sunday School Class.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, Thomas Cater; sons, William “Bill” Cater and James D. Cater.

Doris is survived by her grandsons, John Cater and wife Ellen, Mark Cater and wife Christina, Bryan Cater and wife Kristi, Chris Cater; daughters-in-law, Bonnie Pope and husband Ronald, Cynthia B. Cater; great-grandchildren, Christy, Kyle, Tillie, Courtney, Austin, Hannah, Grayson, Quinn, and Hudson; sister-in-law, Pat Cater; niece, Vicky Neal and husband Charles; Nephew, Douglas Cater and wife Cynthia; and numerus great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Springs of Grace Baptist Church, 6300 Hearne Ave, Shreveport, LA 71108.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her dear friends, Lisa and Mike McGuirt, Bro. Jeff Segner, her church family and the Colonial Oaks staff.

Graveside services, celebrating her life, will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Gardens of Memory Memorial Park in Minden. Officiating will be Bro. Jeff Segner.
