Doris May Fair, born on March 30, 1941, in Canoe, Alabama, to the late Wally and Bertha Lee Godwin. She went home to be with the Lord, November 13, 2025, at the age of 84. She worked as a Beautician throughout her life.
Residing in Shreveport, Louisiana, Doris was known for her unwavering faith and boundless generosity. She was a devoted member of Shreveport Baptist Temple for many years. Her gentle nature and humorous spirit brought joy and laughter to those around her. Through life's challenges, Doris remained resilient, inspiring others with her strength and determination.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Fair; her son, John Todd Hight; her daughter, Tammy Lynn Gaston; her grandchild, John Todd Hight Jr; and her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Peggy Tenney of Alabama, Joann Simpson and husband Jim Simpson of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Roy Godwin of Bay Minette, Alabama; son, Barry Hight of Bossier City, Louisiana; grandchildren, Daniel Hight and wife, Dottie Hight of Waskom, Texas; Brent Watson and wife Crystal Watson of West Monroe, Louisiana and Chellsy Hight of Waskom, Texas; along with numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Her legacy of kindness and compassion will be cherished by all who knew her. Doris's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation on November 18, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. Officiating her services will be Pastor Howard Hall of Shreveport Baptist Temple.
She will be laid to rest in the Fellowship section at Centuries Memorial Park next to her husband, Jim. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Brent Watson, Daniel Hight, Travis Hight, Tyler Hight, Josh Martin, and Jessie Power.
