On Sunday, September 18, the world lost a wonderful Christian lady. A mother to most, if Dorothy knew you, you were family; if not by blood, by “heart.” She loved with an unconditional love that remained steadfast through good times and tough times. A kind word, a big hug and a smile were always waiting. No matter how much pain she was in personally, she had it in her heart to make everyone else feel better.
Though humble, her talents were many; she made the best sweet potato pies and the most awesome brisket. A teacher at heart, she poured herself into others. Whether it was making baked beans, peanut brittle, or one of her unique quilts, she was there, with lesson in hand. Even though she was self-taught, there wasn’t much she couldn’t do. She was active in her church way beyond her body’s ability to serve. She loves Jesus Christ and it showed throughout her life. No one left Dorothy Peters house hungry, sad or without council. She began a journey on May 31, 1932 and has now reached her destination. This light that has shown so bright here on Earth, now adds to Heaven’s brilliance. She has seen her Savior face to face and no doubt heard Him say “Well done, good and faithful servant…”
Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her daughter Joyce Bailey, her grandson James-Peter Mahlum and her sister Rosemary Carter. Left to cherish her memory are her: husband, Leslie Peters; son, Terry Lynn Peters; daughter, Leslie Denise Burrow and husband Ron (whom she called son); grandchildren, Kayla Ford and husband Justin, Ron Burrow, Jr. and wife Katherine, Kelly Roberts, and Rhonda Burchard and husband Mark; great grandchildren, Trey Leone, Jacob Burrow, Allison Leone, Noah Roberts, Samantha Burrow, Jarrett Ford, Jayden Ford, Mia-Grace Roberts, Jaxson Ford, Kason Ford, Keagan Ford, Cason Johnson and Claudia Stephens; sisters, Clara Marcello, Johnny B.
