Doyle Edward Drake went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Doyle was born on November 28, 1940, to Lucy Drake in the small community of West Bowie near Dekalb, Texas. Doyle graduated from Dekalb HS in May, 1958 and then moved to Arlington, TX to begin work at Cummins Diesel. Doyle soon met the love of his life, Darlene Munday. Doyle and Darlene were married on November 18, 1961. They moved to Shreveport, LA in 1963 as Doyle was transferred to another
Cummins location.
Doyle and Darlene began attending church at Trinity Heights Baptist in 1965 where they have been faithful members for the past 59 years. Doyle held jobs in the logistics industry prior to working at Trinity Heights as Head of Maintenance. He held this position at Trinity Heights for over 20 years, where he positively impacted the lives of many, with his heart for service, before retiring in 2012.
Doyle is preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Drake, brother Frank Drake, and sister Jean Craig. Doyle is survived by his wife of 62 years Darlene, Children; Cindy Drake, Don Drake and wife Tricia, Brian Drake and wife Angela. He is also grandfather to Jed Davidson and wife Alyssa, Collin Drake, Kelsey Drake, Katy Drake, Dylan Drake, and great grandfather to Avery Davidson. Doyle is loved and respected by many.
Services to honor Doyle will be held at Trinity Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 with visitation at 9 am followed by a memorial service at 10 am. Graveside service will follow at Woodmen’s Cemetery in Dekalb, TX. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church.
Honoring Doyle as pallbearers will be Henry Simons, Collin Drake, John Rennie, Paul Kirkham, Jed Davidson and Dylan Drake. Honorary pallbearers Charles Shaver, Norman Dukes, Doyle Munday, John Greer, David Fox, Jim Turner and Jerome Taylor.
