Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Elerson Butler “E.B.” Jones, Jr., 89, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Chaplain Fred Hudson. The funeral services will be concluded in the chapel and a private interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
E.B. was born on May 4, 1927 and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. E.B. was best known for his impeccable character and his genuine love for the Lord. He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
E.B. graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had a long-time career with Brookshire Grocery Company starting as a Butcher and retiring as a Tri-State Meat Market Manager. E.B. was a member and an Elder of Southern Hills Church of Christ. In his early Christian life, he served as a lay preacher for several small churches in East Texas. E.B. loved the Lord with all his heart and was always eager to show God's love to everyone he met.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of E.B. is his wife of 63 years, Thelma Cascile Jones; three daughters, Pam Voss, Peggy Huckeba (Ronnie) and Jill Goldsberry; three sisters, Shirley Jones, Barbara Mackenzie and Linda Rogers; one brother, Kenneth Jones; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to Southern Hills Church of Christ.
E.B. was dearly loved by his family and will always be remembered.
