Ellen Woodruff, a lifelong resident of the Shreveport area went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2021, at the age of 95. Ellen was born on August 18, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Ellen retired from the Caddo Parish School Board after many years of service. Following retirement, she and her beloved husband Pete enjoyed many happy years together living in their home on Cross Lake. They both served faithfully for many years at Lakeview Baptist Church where she was the pianist. At the time of her death, Ellen was a member of First Baptist Church, Bossier City.
Ellen is survived by two daughters, Rita Wynn and husband Tommy of Benton, LA and Carolyn Birdwell and husband David of Van Alstyne, TX.; sister Edna Whyte of Shreveport, LA.; Seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Claude Edwin “Pete” Woodruff; parents, Belford Earl and Sibbie LaBorde; sisters Dorothy Mitchell and Earline Wilkerson.
A Visitation for Ellen will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will follow at 11:30 AM in Centuries Memorial Park, with Bro. David Birdwell officiating.
Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Trey Wynn, Mark Dudley, Matt VanSchyndle, Carter Allen, Jacob Guillot and Ronnie Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Dudley and David Guillot.
