Elrena Young Wilkinson passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 100. She was born December 17, 1919 in Eunice, Louisiana to Joseph Young and Lovenia Brown Young. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a faithful member of Boulevard Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed fellowship with her friends and other church members. She liked sewing and crocheting. Elrena loved spending time with her family and cooking for them most of all.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Richard J. Wilkinson and wife Tina, Douglas C. Wilkinson and wife Jonell, and Iris Wilkinson DeśOrmeaux and husband Keith; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Elrena is preceded in death by her husband, Moyse H. Wilkinson; daughter, Bernie Don Wilkinson Frusha; and her parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Stonebridge Place employees, hospice staff and sitters: Theresa Guidry, Sharon (Pat) Hicks and Vanessa Ceasar for their kindness and the care they provided Elrena.
A visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the services will be Pastor Heath Peloquin. Serving as pallbearers will be Dondra Zaunbrecher, Paula O’Neal, Dana Daughety, Janice Smith, Rhonda Worshek, Natalie Falke, Tiffany Warner, and Ashley Lopresto. An interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date due to the hurricane.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe, Louisiana to honor Elrena.
