To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Mamaw, Estelle Puckett, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana surrounded by family. Estelle was born on December 21, 1931, in Benson, Louisiana to Osborn Frank Martin and Sylvia Cole Martin.
Estelle dedicated more than 20 years of service as a bank officer with Commercial National Bank. For 59 years, she was a faithful member of Blanchard United Methodist Church, which later became Northpoint Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, tending to her flowers and the many years spent working on the farm in Bloomburg with Billy. She loved crocheting, sewing, working puzzles, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. A hard worker throughout her life, she was known for her humility, kindness, and selfless nature. While our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing she is now in Heaven, reunited with our Papaw and their son David, who they lost when he was just 18 years old. What a reunion that must be! She loved the Lord with her whole heart; she loved her family and friends deeply and showed us all what hard work and resilience looked like. She was married to the love of her life for 72 years, a true example of devotion. We are forever grateful for the wonderful legacy she leaves behind! She will be greatly missed!
Left to cherish Estelle’s wonderful memories will be her daughter, Sue Ellen McCoy (Doug), two granddaughters: Kelly Poole (Ben), Katie Moore (Ray), five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Nesbit (Matthew), Nate Poole, McKenna Poole, Jackson Poole, Hallie Rae Moore along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, a son, David Martin Puckett, and the love of her life, Billy Jim Puckett.
Pallbearers will be Doug McCoy, Ben Poole, Jackson Poole, Ray Moore, Matthew Nesbit, and Ken Lawler.
A visitation for Estelle will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial - Blanchard Chapel, 356 Warriner Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71107. A graveside service will occur Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Salem Cemetery in Bloomburg, Texas with Pastor Clay Fuqua officiating.
In lieu flowers, donations can be made to Northpoint Methodist Church, 6675 LA-1, Shreveport, LA 71107 or Salem Cemetery, P O Box 254, Bloomburg, TX 75556.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rudy and Brooke with Gentiva Hospice and our sincerest gratitude to Ken and Amy Lawler.
