Floriene Pearce Grimes went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 4, 2021 in Bossier City, LA at the age of 90. She was born November 28, 1930 to J.W. Pearce and Ruby Cooper Pearce in Glenmora, LA.
Floriene worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell/ Bell South for many years until her retirement in 1980. She then devoted her remaining years to her family and church. She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, camping, reading and fishing. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Blanchard, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and the Senior Adult Joy Choir. She was also an officer in the Senior Adult Pacesetters group for many years. She will always be remembered for her kind and caring personality.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Penny Grimes Sauls and her husband, Dale; a granddaughter, Candace Grimes Jones and her husband, Kenny; two great grandchildren, Sophia Claire Jones and Saxton Callaway Jones; a sister-in-law, Maggie Pearce; a brother-in-law, Paul Grimes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, James T. Grimes, who was a major for the Shreveport Police Department; only son, James Kenneth Grimes; her parents; two sisters, Florence and Doris; and three brothers, Bill, Claude, and Bobby.
A celebration of life service will occur Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hill Crest Memorial - Blanchard Chapel, 356 Warriner Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71107 with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the services, an interment will occur at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Officiating the services will be Pastor Clay Fuqua and Bro. Dale Sauls. Honoring her as pallbearers will be, Ron Killingsworth, Richard Gates, Terral Whetstone, Jim Peck, Sam Paris, and John “Bo” Bettis.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff, nurses, and aides of Brookdale Assisted Living and Riverview Care Center. They would also like to thank Dr. Paul Guidry and the nurses at Willis Knighton Bossier.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Blanchard Missions Fund.
