Floyd Lane Jones

Floyd Lane Jones went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2014, in Shreveport, at the age of 89. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Decem¬ber 31, 2014 @ Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Reverend H B Fuller. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.

Floyd was born March 9, 1925 in Fairview Alpha, Louisiana. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served in the South Pacific. After the war, Floyd had a successful career for 35 years with Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company (Center Point Energy) where he retired as Director of Purchasing. Followed by 22 years he enjoyed with Enterprise Holdings. Among his passions were tending his garden and the ever present gift of telling a joke to those around him even in his last days.

Floyd is a Past President of the Shreveport Purchasing Agents Association (affiliated with the National Association of Purchasing Management). He was the eldest Deacon and an active member of the Shreve City Baptist Church.

Preceded in the journey to heaven were Floyd’s parents: LT & Clara Lou Jones; Children Robert Lane, Janice Ann, and Marie Jones; and Grand-son Darrell Max French, II.

Mr. Jones is survived by this beloved wife of 67 years, Willie Jean (Wren) Jones; a sister, Minnie Davis and her husband, Billy. Sister-in-law Sherry Jones, Martin, LA. Three children and spouses, Reverend Phillip Jones and Donna, Brentwood, TN; Sandra Norris, Shreveport; Kenneth Jones and Cynthia, Mesquite, Texas. Grandchildren Janice Jones, Nashville, TN; Derek Jones and Tori, Thompson Station, TN; David French, Shreveport; Daniel French and Rachel, Shreveport; Chris Jones and Elexis, Frisco, TX; Blake Jones and Laura, Burbank, CA. Also survived by his Great Grand children Amber French, Bryant, AR; Madison French and Lexi Law¬rence, Cabot, AR; Zoe and Lincoln Jones, Thompson Station, TN; Caleb and Callie French, Shreveport; Emerson Jones, Frisco, TX.
