Frances went home to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 72 years old after a long and courageous battle with illness.
After attending Woodlawn High School, she went to work at Western Electric. She later took a career in typesetting & graphic design, after which she became the proud owner of the local newspaper in Waskom, TX.
Frances loved playing the piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She sang in a band with her twin brother as a teenager, as well as throughout the years to her children and close family. She was a phenomenal artist and could sketch anything in front of her.
She gave her heart to Jesus when she was 17 years old and continued to serve Him throughout her life.
Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 49:16- Behold, I have engraved thee on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
She adored her parents and honored them until the very end. She loved her children fiercely and was often heard saying how much she loved her daddy and her children. She faithfully served her family until the day she went home to be with the Lord.
Frances was a very strong and loyal woman and she overcame many obstacles in her life. We are certain that she is in the loving arms of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leon & Virginia Slayton, her three brothers: Larry Slayton, Greg Slayton & her twin brother Dennis Slayton.
She is survived by her husband Ricky Joe Shofner, daughter Haley/ Ronnie Plumlee, son Evan Shofner, granddaughter Emily Vines, great granddaughter Leylah Vines, two bonus grandsons Ronnie and Tyler Bravo, and countless nieces & nephews.
