Born and raised in Shreveport, Garland was the beloved daughter of Daisy Wainwright Ware and Gorlie Ware. She was the embodiment of quiet strength and selfless devotion. A woman of deep Christian faith, Garland lived each day with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit anchored in grace. Her relationship with God was the foundation upon which she built her life, and she shared that unwavering faith with those around her through word, action, and gentle example.
Garland was the kind of woman who made everyone feel at home. Whether it was a warm meal, a listening ear, or a comforting word, she gave freely of herself. She believed in showing up always present, always dependable, and always offering encouragement and wisdom rooted in love. She didn’t need recognition or praise; her joy came from serving others, especially her family.
As a wife, Garland was fiercely loyal and loving, sharing 64 beautiful years with her husband, Jim. Their marriage was a testimony to lifelong partnership, faith, and friendship. As a mother, she was nurturing and devoted, instilling in her children the values of kindness, integrity, and devotion to family.
She delighted in the simple things like bird watching in the quiet morning hours, tending to her garden with a special fondness for morning glories, and noticing beauty in places others might overlook. Her love of nature reflected her gentle, observant spirit and her appreciation for God’s creation.
Garland is survived by her husband, Jim Moellenkamp; her son, Chris Moellenkamp; and her daughter, April Moellenkamp. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Ryan Moellenkamp (Leslie), Autumn Estes (Taylor), Cody Moellenkamp (Emma), Lexie Stanley (Bryan), and Kyle Moellenkamp (Amy)—and great-grandchildren Jackson Estes and Ivey Moellenkamp. She is also survived by her loving nieces Stephanie Chandler (Tommy), Evalyn Bean (Carl), Rachel Linebach (Keith), Shelly Chandler, and Jennifer Richardson (Rob), along with her two dear friends, Sue Ross and Linda Russell, whose companionship meant the world to her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son Matthew Moellenkamp, her parents Gorlie and Daisy Ware, and her sisters Ann McGrew and Betty Hughes.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108. A celebration of Garland’s life will follow at 11:00 AM with Dr. B.J. "Rocky" Maddox officiating.
