Genevieve (Gen) Marie Compton Nash passed peacefully at her home in Keithville, Louisiana Monday January 27th, 2025, at the age of 85. A longtime resident of Keithville, Gen was born to Robert Henry Compton and Mary Adele Brown Compton in Elton, Louisiana and was very proud of her Cajun roots.
Gen was a teacher at Grawood Christian Academy for 10 years and her students were her pride and joy, some of whom she was still in contact with regularly. After she retired from LSU-S in 1996 she enjoyed sewing, reading and photography. She also wrote and self-published two books about her life and family history.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Henry Compton and Mary Adele Brown Pettycrew and her brother Cecil Compton.
Gen is survived by her husband of over 60 years Noel Wayne Nash; brother Robert Compton and wife Judy of Oak Park Il; son Randy Wayne Nash and wife Lisa of Shreveport; daughter Cindy Palmer; grandchildren Tiffany Nash, Amy Bahm and Orie Haw; and grandsons Aiden Wise, Rhett and Jameson Bahm.
There will be a celebration of her life at graveside Friday February 7, 2025, at 11:30 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd., Keithville, La 71047, officiated by Jerry Hodge of University Church of Christ.
