

Shreveport, LA- A graveside service celebrating the life of George Wesley Tucker, 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. J. Durell Tuberville and Bro. Ken Joyner. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Tucker was born on October 9, 1928 and passed away on March 12, 2016. George was a dedicated an devoted husband, father and brother. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Meadow Draughon Business College and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS. He attained many diplomas in Fire Protection Schools, Civilian and the U.S. Air Force. George was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Tucker served in various leadership capacities in different organizations throughout his career including, Captain with the Shreveport Fire Department for 26 years, Captain with the Louisiana Army National Guard for 20 years, Crew Chief with the Barksdale Fire Department for 18 years, Lieutenant Colonel with the 4158th Army Reserves School for 10 years and Operations Officer (S-3) with the 4158th U.S. Army Reserve School.
Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, Edward D. Tucker, Sr. and Estelle L. Tucker; son, Kenneth Allen Tucker; sister, Mildred Judd and brother, Edward D. Tucker, Jr.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of George is his wife, Joe Anne Tucker; daughter, Betty Ann T. Mitchell; brother, Roy W. Tucker and wife Sharon and sister, Margaret Tucker.
Honoring Mr. Tucker as pallbearers will be: Tommy Gardner, Dennis Tucker, Alvin Tucker, Trey Fort, Bobby Shaver and Jimmy Brister,
