On Friday, April 4, 2025, Gordon Wayne Spigener went to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness at the age of 89 in Shreveport, LA. Gordon was born on May 2, 1935, in Homer, Louisiana, and was the oldest son to Alvin and Mary Alice Cox Spigener. His greatest love was his family and he was a faithful husband to his wife of 67 years, Patricia Jones. They were married on June 21, 1957, after just a year of dating.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents and his son Roderick “Roddy” Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Cara Ebey and husband, Fred; and grandchildren, Aaron Holloway and wife Lauren, Abigayle Holloway and Jesse Hall, and Allyson Holloway. He is also survived by his four brothers, WA, Frederick and wife, Dianne, Jimmy, and Ralph and wife, Debbie. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He had many dear friends and was known for talking to anyone and everyone who would listen.
Gordon attended grade school in Claiborne Parish and graduated from Cotton Valley High School. He settled in Blanchard, LA which is where he met the love of his life, Pat. He joined the Army Reserves and served his country loyally for five years. He then went on to graduate from Oklahoma City University in 1966 and returned to Louisiana. Alongside his wife, they started Spigener Real Estate and later became Century 21 Spigener Real Estate. They worked in the real estate business for nearly 40 years and had many committed agents, who became family.
During their marriage, they enjoyed a beautiful life together full of traveling to places, such as, the Rose Parade, Greece, Europe, and many Real Estate conventions all over the United States. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was known as “Pawpaw.” He loved getting together with his four brothers to play cards, tell stories, cook fish, and eat homemade ice cream.
He was a faithful member of Summer Grove Baptist Church since 1967, serving as a deacon, on many financial committees, and a Sunday School teacher. He would use any opportunity to share his testimony and how knowing Jesus had impacted his life. Gordon lived a beautiful life surrounded by family friends, adventure, and at times, heartache. Throughout his life, his faith never wavered and we find hope knowing he has been met with the open arms of our Heavenly Father.
A visitation for Gordon will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella, Shreveport, LA 71118, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.
