Mr. Gregory Hays

Funeral services celebrating the life of Gregory Hays, 53, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Alijandro R. Smith. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Hays was born on November 25, 1957 in Shreveport, LA and passed away on August 31, 2011 in Monroe, LA. Gregory was a member of the Baptist faith and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA in 1968. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hays was dedicated to his family and friends and loved them all very much. He loved to cook and enjoyed making people laugh with his jokes and great sense of humor.

Preceding Mr. Hays in death were his parents, Buster and Dorean Hays and one brother, Christopher Hays.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Gregory is his wife, Monica Hays; son, Roderick Nicholson and wife Demetrius; 3 sisters, Lila Smith, Elizabeth Crenshaw and husband Kenneth and Vickie Gates and husband Richard; 4 brothers, Robert Richardson and wife Debbie, Terry Hays and special friend Michaela, Roderick Hays and wife Effie and Larry Richardson; grandmother, Ollie Mae Richardson; five stepsons, Al Simmons, Larry Myers, Jr., Tremaine Myers, Jermaine Myers and Hakeen Washington; 2 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Honoring Mr. Hays as pallbearers will be: Elderick Hays, Tremaine Myers, Johnny Baker, Larry Myers, Wilkie Dupree and David Hays.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Overton Brooks Medical Center (8th floor) and St. Francis Medical Center (5th floor) for the care given to Gregory.
