Gudrun, her son, youngest sister, and parents immigrated from Germany to the United States on April 2, 1956. Shortly after, Gudrun moved with her son to Shreveport, LA where she met her husband, Bennie J. Daniel. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1958. Gudrun took great pride in becoming an United States citizen in 1976. While the USA was celebrating their 200th year, she was celebrating her first!
She will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.
Gudrun/Mama/Grandma leaves behind a son, two daughters, and two son-in-laws ~ Robert Goecking, Stephanie (Ken) Barr, and Marion (Jeff) Prost, five adoring grandchildren ~ Amanda (Shane) Arrowsmith, Todd (Megan) Wedgeworth, Matt (Hanna) Barr, Amber Clark, and Shane Humphries, ~ ten incredible great-grandchildren ~ Brandon, Gracie, Brody, Isabella, Sophia, Ellie, Zoë, Layla, Ronan, and Zackry ~ one sister, Linda Harmon, ~ countless loving family, friends, acquaintances, and her best friend for the past 4 years, Langford Caskey. She is preceded in death by an infant son, husband, parents, and one sister.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service, which will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108 on July 24, 2023 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am prior to her Celebration of Life.
Memorial donations can be made to Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave, Shreveport, LA 71118 where she was a loyal member since 1974.
