Harley L. Shaw, Sr., passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born on November 19, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina to Charlie and Esther Shaw. He spent most of his life in South Carolina, where he married and raised a family. He was a banker by trade, and spent 38 years serving various communities. He took pride in being a local banker that cared about the needs of his customers, providing a more personal touch that they appreciated.
Harley was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, teaching his children to love it as well. He spent most weekends hunting, fishing, playing golf, or at their home in Edisto Beach. When he wasn't outside, Harley was watching his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks, both football and women's basketball, cheering them on, win or lose. He had a larger than life personality, and could light up a room with his smile. He cherished his family, while having a heart for those in need. Harley worked hard from a very early age to build a life for himself and his wife and children. He was someone who never gave up, never quit on anything, even at the end.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Shaw, and his grandson, Rhett Shaw.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Williams Shaw; daughter, Ashley O'Quinn and husband David; son, Lee Shaw and wife, April; son, Brandon Shaw and wife, Carmen; grandchildren, Colin O'Quinn and wife, Leta, Zachary Secrist and husband Devin, Jolie Creamer and husband, Seth, Chesley Shaw, Julie Anna Shaw, and Addison Shaw; great grandchildren, Fisher and Sophia O'Quinn, and Casey Creamer; sister, Jeanette Coxe; brother, Danny Shaw along with extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at the Chateau at Montclair and Gentiva Hospice. Each and every one was an extension of family as they loved on him and provided for his every need, right to the end.
