

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Ivan Rupert Packard, Jr., 97, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A private interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Ivan was born on November 13, 1919 in Plainview, AR and passed away on February 11, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Packard was the Owner/Operator of Packard’s Western Store. He was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Packard served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. During WWII, he served as a member of the 143rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. His battalion fought in several different areas of Europe but they most notably fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Ivan was awarded many different commendations for his bravery and valiant efforts including the American Campaign Medal, the American Defense Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, 4 bronze stars for his service in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign and a Presidential Citation. Mr. Packard loved the outdoors. He was an avid marksman and he loved to hunt.
Mr. Packard was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Packard, his parents and three sisters.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Ivan are his children, Ivan R. Packard, III and Jane Packard; stepsons, Larry Rankin and wife Jennie and Gary Rankin; grandchildren, Laura Rankin, Jay Rankin, Mimi Webb and Amanda Arnold Smith and 9 great grandchildren.
