A lifelong resident of Shreveport, Ron carried the spirit of the city with him wherever he went, from the streets of Cedar Grove where he grew up to the home he built through decades of love, work, and family.
A proud graduate of Byrd High School, Ron forged a distinguished career as a data processing technician. He retired from AT&T—formerly known as Nokia—where his sharp mind and steady dedication made him a respected presence among coworkers.
But Ron was never defined by a job title. He was a true jack of all trades, the kind of man who could build anything his late wife, Helen, dreamed up. Whether he was crafting guitars with meticulous care, shaping wood in his workshop, or expanding his collections of coins and stamps, Ron approached every hobby with curiosity, talent, and heart.
Ron’s greatest pride was always his family. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Billingsley Cooper (David), Meredith Billingsley Stuart (Jason), and Heather Billingsley Prymek (Marc). He leaves behind grandchildren who adored him: Samuel Lloyd Cooper (Kelsey), Simeon Elijah Stuart, Brianna Cotton Blood (Caleb), Tristen Joseph Cotton (Madison), and Benjamin Seth Prymek (Kassidy Richardson). Ron’s legacy continues in his great-grandchildren—Luke Joseph Cotton, Anna Elizabeth Cotton, Izabella Marie Cotton, Charlotte Marie Blood, and Isaiah Seth Prymek—each a bright reminder of the family he helped shape.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Heidecker Billingsley, and by his parents, James Newton Billingsley and Naomi Evelyn Billingsley.
A visitation will be held on Friday November 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM following with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM.
Honoring Ron as pallbearers will be David Cooper, Jason Stuart, Marc Prymek, Benjamin Prymek, Tristen Cotton, and Caleb Blood.
Ron will be laid to rest at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road in Shreveport, in the Fellowship section, Lot 47D, Space 2.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Compassus Hospice nurses—Autumn, Leslie, Gwynn, Vicki, Susan, and Sandy—for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care during Ron’s final days.
