Services to honor the life of Mr. James Franklin Cross will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Joe Bob Alexander. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones Friday evening between the hours of 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jim was born on March 9, 1924, in Fouke, AR to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Cross. He passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the age of 87 years. Jim proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his Honorable Discharge, he went on to become a locomotive engineer with Kansas City Southern Rail Road.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mrs. Mentoria A. Cross; sons, James F. Cross, Jr. and wife, Kathryn, Jere D. Cross and wife, Dona; grandchildren, Catherine M. Gilmore and husband, Larson, Cherry DeAnne DeMent; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Cade DeMent and Jolie Bey DeMent.
