died in his sleep at his residence on January 24, 2021.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am at Centuries Memorial on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Service at 11:00 am with Minister Dan Coffel officiating. Burial at Centuries Memorial Park. Masks and adherence to social distancing will be required.
Jamie was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 25, 1943, and was raised in Bossier City. He graduated from Bossier High School in 1961 with the same fellow classmates from the first grade thru high school. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Peterson Sales and Enron. After retiring, he moved to Oklahoma and farmed for years before returning to live in Greenwood. He was an avid deer hunter and jokester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice James and Cygil Dees Edwards, and a sister Janet Banks. Jamie is survived by his children, Ronnie Edwards, and Gloria, Donnie Edwards and wife Debbie, and daughter, Jonette Newsome and husband Kevin. Seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends; his sisters Nancy Allen, June Edwards, and brother-in-law James Friday. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Peanut.
Pallbearers are Junior Rieber, Luke Kirby, James Edwards, III, and Coty Malone.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Seward, James Smith, and John LeGrand.
His sons took excellent care of him which enabled him to live longer and at home, with at-home dialysis. They built ramps and various things to make his life better.
Jamie was loved and will be missed by all those near and dear to him.
Even though we cannot be together, we will never be apart.
