I came into this world in El Dorado, Arkansas on May 12th, 1924. There to greet me were my Grandpaw and Grandmaw Primm, Mama and Daddy, and seven sisters and one brother.
Growing older was a great part of my life. I went barefoot every summer. I got a new pair of black shoes each year when school started. Mama and I would then dye them white each summer for my church shoes. The whole family went fishing to¬gether, and I would get one dollar the week before Christmas to buy my siblings gifts.
I was 18 years old when I joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. Three years later, I married and spent the best 67 years of my life with Dorothy, my wife.
I was very proud of my success in starting and building the Goodwin Subdivision west of El Dorado, Arkansas. This was done with faith, handshakes, promises and very little money. During my life I worked at National Supply Company, Universal Oil Prod¬ucts, and retired from Gould Battery plant as Purchasing Manager. I was also past president of the National Affiliation of Purchasing Agents. I was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
Thank you Mama and Daddy for all the help you gave me grow¬ing up, even the spankings, for I know now that they were love taps. Thank you Mama for opening the doors of heaven for me.
My wife passed away six months ago, leaving me with a broken heart. It is my time to join her because ….. Love is …....when a lifetime doesn’t seem enough. (James U. Goodwin)
