James Guy Singleton passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on October 28, 1953, in Beaumont, Texas, James made his home in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was known and loved by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
James was a hardworking, loving provider whose greatest accomplishment was stepping up to become an extraordinary father and grandfather. He took immense pride in his family and devoted himself to ensuring they felt loved, supported, and cared for. His strength, wisdom, and unwavering presence left a lasting impact on those closest to him.
A dedicated martial artist, James achieved the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt, a testament to his discipline, determination, and passion for karate and kung fu. He had a deep appreciation for the values these arts taught and carried those lessons throughout his life.
James found peace in sitting outside and talking with God. He loved everything related to karate and kung fu, enjoyed watching movies, and never missed an opportunity to share a corny dad joke that could make his family smile. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his loved ones and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his daughter, Dominique Stewart; his granddaughter, Kailani Stewart; his siblings, Martha Guiidry, B.B. Singleton, Gerald Singleton, and Dora Reed; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Hardin Singleton; his father, Guy Singleton; and sister, Mary Ann Singleton.
James will be remembered for his love, strength, faith, humor, and devotion to family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
