

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James W. “Jake” Wilmore, 83, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017, at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, officiated by Father Francis Kamur. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Jake was born on June 19, 1934, and went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2017. He was a generous man with a large heart who loved his family and friends dearly. Jake served his country in the U.S. Army and was owner/operator of Shreveport Tom’s Sales for more than thirty years. The company, which is now Wilmore Snack Sales, is still in the family. Jake was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed being with his family and cooking for those he loved.
Jake is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Clara Kelley Wilmore; parents, James Lester and Bessie Wilmore; and brothers, Christopher and Harold Wilmore. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Earlene Kern Wilmore; brothers, Donald Wilmore (and wife Betty), and John Wayne Wilmore (and wife Beverly); children, Jimmy Wilmore (and wife Kim), Randy Wilmore (and wife Susan), and Lisa Waggoner (and husband Steve); step-children, Julie Goodman (and husband Jeffrey), Susan McKenzie (and husband David), Jennifer Booras (and husband Chris), and John Kern; grandchildren, Megan, Taylor, Thomas, Travis (and wife Brooke) Wilmore, Lauren, Michael, Kelley, and Emily Waggoner, Corey Thomas (and wife Brigette), Jordan Thomas (and wife Chelsea), Ellen, Katherine, and Christopher Booras, Mitchell and Jared Kern; great-grandchild, Hugo Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. Jake was also survived by his sister, Margaret Wilmore, who joined him in Heaven a few short hours later.
Honoring Jake as pallbearers are his grandsons and sons-in-law.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Bickham and all of the doctors, nurses, and staff of SICU at Willis Knighton North who took exceptional care of Jake.
