A visitation for Jeanette will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in the Northwest Louisiana Veteran Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
Jeanette was born in Davenport, IA, to James Oliver and Rosa Delle Langley Bell on August 10, 1931. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2025, in Bossier City, LA.
As a young lady, Jeanette proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before dedicating many years to civil service. She and her husband, George William "Mac" McCalman (1933-2016) shared fifty years of marriage in Plain Dealing, LA, where they were active members of the Plain Dealing United Methodist Church. Jeanette served as Treasurer for both the local and state chapters of the United Methodist Women, now known as United Women of Faith. She was a devoted member of her church and community, offering her time and talents in service to others.
She is survived by her children: Richard Edward Lewis of Eugene, OR; Rachel Elaine Brown of Bossier City, LA; Rebecca Lewis Fisher of Plain Dealing, LA; and Heather Ellene McCalman of Johnson City, TN. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Caleb Jon Howe of Bossier City, LA; Benjamin Paul Cunningham of Gaffney, SC; Jamie Israel Fisher of SD; and Kyle Morgan Cunningham of Winter Garden, FL. Additionally, she is remembered by her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Jeanette’s steadfast faith and dedication to her family and community will be cherished by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
