Joann D. Waldrop, a beloved matriarch and resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Born on October 31, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Joann was a cherished member of her community and family. Her life was marked by her dedication to her family and her many interests.
Joann retired as a bookkeeper, a career that showcased her meticulous nature and dedication. She was passionate about crafts and enjoyed painting, with a particular fondness for ceramics. Her love for her women groups was evident, and she found joy in these gatherings. Joann was the matriarch of her family, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. She cherished watching Hallmark Movies, with "When Calls The Heart" being her favorite. Above all, Joann loved spending time with her family, creating lasting memories with those she held dear.
Joann is survived by her devoted husband, Havis G. Waldrop, and her loving children, Lisa W. Hopper (Lee) and Kelly R. Waldrop (Tracy Wieland). She was a proud grandmother to Chris Clanton (Jessica), Alex Waldrop, Alexander Wieland, Isabella Wieland, Lee A. Wallace, Adaliyn Waldrop, Niklaus Waldrop, and Evangelina Waldrop; brother, Charles Dockery (Edna). She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Clifford Dockery and Emma Eula Shirley Dockery, her sister Dorothy Townsend, and her niece Brenda Von kanel.
The family will receive friends during a visitation at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana, in the Chapel, on February 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm with Bro. John Harp officiating.
Pallbearers honoring Joann's life will include Chris Clanton, Alex T. Waldrop, Alexander Wieland, and Lee A. Wallace.
Joann will be laid to rest at Centuries Memorial Park, in the Meditation Garden, Lot 2, Space 1, a serene final resting place for a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shreveport Animal Shelter.
