A celebration of life will be held for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Bridges Cole, age 92 on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Mansfield Rd.. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 until service time at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Dallas Mora.
Mrs. Cole was born to John Bridges and Annie Mae Ashby Bridges on February 9, 1926 in Desoto Parish and left peacefully in her sleep for her Heavenly Home on March 16, 2018 at the Guest House after a long battle with alzheimers.
Mrs. Cole was an avid fisherman and loved to garden. She was most happy at her camp on Toledo Bend. She loved having her family around her, especially the grandchildren. Justin has said she was the only person he had ever seen who could catch a 5 LB bass on a little bitty bream hook! I’m sure she has already found a lake or steam to drop a hook in.
Waiting to bring her through the gates of Heaven were her parents; husband, Johnnie B. Cole; a daughter, Shelia Jan Cole; grandson, Ragan Adam Shively and a brother, Elmo Bridges. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Danny Ray Cole and wife Gloria; two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Cole Jordan and husband Mike of Shreveport, LA and Twyla Cole Erickson and husband Marve of Stonewall, LA; six grandsons, Mark, Ben, and Justin Cole, Nathan Shively, Bryan Erickson, and Josh Cook; two granddaughters, Melody Cook Jackson and Cassie Halford; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Willis, Robert and David Bridges; three sisters, Marilyn Lively, Maxine Evans, and Nell Maines; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
The family would like to thank the Guest House, especially Chris Bihm and the staff of hall 300 for their love and care of our mother for the past 13 years. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
