Johnny Edward Pruett

Johnny Edward Pruett was born October 18, 1956 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late George and Dorothy Pruett. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he worked for many years as a mechanic, known as a true jack-of-all-trades, who could fix, build and figure out what others could not. Above all, Johnny was, as his family lovingly describes, a one-of-a-kind husband, father, and Pawpaw.

Johnny found joy and purpose in the things he loved most—racing, hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, camping, and fishing. He won many awards and trophies for racing. In later years, he fought cancer and got to ring the bell in December 2024; even then, he never stopped fighting.

On Friday, July 31, 2026, Johnny passed away at his home in Ringgold, Louisiana at the age of 69. What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. Those we love do not go away.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his sons, George, Johnny, Steven, and Jordan; his daughter, Aaliyah; his brother, Greg; and 14 grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy; his brother, George; and his sister, Diane.

A Graveside Service will be held at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, Louisiana 71047, on August 10, 2026, at 10:30 am with military honors

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff at Highland Cancer Center, the staff at the VA Hospital, and all of his other doctors for his care over the years along with Diane, John Warren and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

As the late Johnny E. Pruett would say, “Whatever.”
