On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Jonathan A. McMurray, loving husband and father passed away at age 41. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Von “Bill” McNease; paternal grandparents, Virginia Williams and Devon McNease; maternal grandparents, Frances and Earl McMurray; and aunt, Glenda Thompson. Jonathan is survived by his wife Emily McMurray and daughter Anna; mother, Karen Sue McMurray McNease; two sisters, Dayna Daigle and Elise Hebert; four brothers, Justin McNease, Matthew McNease, Joey Wright, and Frank McNease; and uncle, Thad Thompson.
He was born on July 13, 1981, in Monroe, LA to Willie Von “Bill” McNease and Karen Sue McMurray McNease. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He received his associate degree in general studies from Northwestern State University in 2005. Upon his graduation, he became a real estate appraiser. This occupation allowed him to do two things he greatly enjoyed - traveling across Louisiana and meeting people. After several years as an appraiser, Jonathan became an EMT and assisted countless people in their times of need. Though this work was also fulfilling for Jonathan, he decided to return to his appraisal business full time in order to spend more time with his beloved family.
Always one to find humor in any situation, Jonathan would connect with people with his wit and jokes. Family gatherings were often filled with laughter when Jonathan shared his stories from his travels and encounters with others. He also enjoyed spending time on his boat, fishing, hunting and watching UFC fights with his brother -in-law, Matthew Pizzolato and Uncle, Michael Pizzolato. He also treasured the times he could relax with his dog, Sassy. Jonathan especially adored his time with Anna and Emily, loved them unconditionally, and spoiled them greatly!
Please join us in celebrating his life on Tuesday, August 30, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Father Raney Johnson. Visitation hours will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with his service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Justin McNease, Matthew McNease, Matthew Pizzolato, Mark Scott, Jacob Stewart, Thomas Webb, Steve Shipp, and Wilbur Snellings.
While flowers are appreciated, anyone who wishes to honor Jonathan may consider contributing to Anna's tuition at Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Catholic School.
