

Joseph Clinton “J.C” Hinton was born October 2, 1932 to H. C. Hinton and Maudis E. Pollack Hinton in Minden, Louisiana. He passed away January 9, 2018, at the age of 85, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Dorothy Oglethorpe Hinton; son, Joseph R. “Jay” Hinton and wife, Julie Ann; all of Shreveport, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Jordan Ann Hinton and Joseph Thomas Hinton; three sisters, Nona Wise, Jeri White, and Martha Brady; James Hinton, his cousin, who was more like a brother to J.C. ; and numerous extended family members that he treasured. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Hinton and Larry Hinton; and sister, Jan Hinton.
J.C. started working in his church at the age of 15. He attended Bird High School and Centenary College both of Shreveport. He spent much of his adult life working with young children, coaching baseball and working with the Boy Scouts and 20 years with preschoolers at his church. He was employed by Rothschild Boiler and Tank Works for 30 years until 1990, when the plant closed. He was then employed by Woods Tank of Minden, Louisiana until he retired in 2002 at age 71.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday, January 12th at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 2:00pm at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Brother John Berry and Brother Damion Mcgee.
