Services to celebrate the life of Joseph Guerrero, 85, will be held 2PM on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. His grandson, Pastor Christopher Litton will officiate. The family will welcome visitors from 5PM to 7PM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
Following his marriage to Mrs. Bobbie in 1951, Mr. Joe served his country during the Korean Conflict. They returned to Shreveport to build their home and raise their children where he was the owner of United Mercantile Company, and was in sales for over 50 years. Known by many titles, Mr. Groovie, Gigilo Joe, Papaw, Pap, and Daddy, Mr. Guerrero was not only loved and admired for his fun and humorous character but for his kind and generous spirit. He was active with the Adult II Redeemed Class from Calvary Baptist Church where he leaves many dear friends. His favorite retreat was his fishing camp on Toledo Bend where he loved to spend quiet time as well as entertain friends and family. He loved watching wrestling and court tv shows and eating at Golden Corral. Always supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors, you could always find Pap at sports activities, dance performances, and school functions.
Preceding Mr. Guerrero in death are his beloved wife Bobbie Faye Watson Guerrero, parents Lawrence Paul and Beulah Bentley Guerrero, brothers Jack and William “Bill” Guerrero and sister Rita Guerrero Davison. Left to cherish his memory are his son Kevin Guerrero with wife Kelly, daughter Sherry Guerrero Wood with husband Jody, brother Stanley Guerrero with wife Ann, grandchildren Danielle Maruschak with husband Brad, Trey Albritten with wife Bess, Rev. Christopher Litton with wife Grace, Elaina Guerrero, Landon Guerrero, Adam Wood Little and Casey, great grandchildren Abigail Maruschak, Noah Maruschak, Grayson Albritten, Abram Albritten, Wyatt Little, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
The family would like to thank Susan, Sheila, and Woody from Hospice of Shreveport/Bossier for guiding them on Mr. Guerrero’s last journey.
Mr. Guerrero loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know about Jesus, so in lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations to Price Harris Ministries, 438 Mars Drive, Shreveport, LA 71106 which was dear to his heart.
