Joseph lived with cerebral palsy, a condition that shaped his life but never defined his spirit. He was known for his strong personality, his sense of humor, and the way he made his presence known to everyone around him. He brought energy and life into a room, and those who knew him will remember his determination, his voice, and the joy he shared so freely.
Joseph was married to his beloved wife, Frances Ann, for 21 years. After her passing in 1997, she remained deeply missed and forever held in his heart.
In the early 1980s, Joseph showed that same determination on a larger stage when he went before the Governor of Louisiana to testify in support of the rights of individuals with disabilities. He was an advocate not only for himself, but for others, using his voice to help bring awareness and push for change.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Anthony Savana (Julia), Susan Bowman (Bill), Georgia Innis (Walker), Jason Savana, Jesse Savana (Kathy), Jasper Savana, Melissa Farris (Richard), and Jaime Savana (Mary Alice). He also leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews, 22 great-nieces and great-nephews, his special friends Carl McBeath, Kit Gamble, and Kevin Gamble, as well as the compassionate caregivers and friends who became his extended family at Bradford Manor.
Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His life, marked by strength, advocacy, love, and connection, leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family and friends.
Service information will be announced at a later date.
