Joyce Gadd, 69, passed away Sunday, February 05, 2012 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with heart and lung complications.
Celebration of Life services for Joyce will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2012, in the Centuries Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brian Opbroek officiating. Interment will immediatly follow in the Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, La. The family will be recieving guests for visitiation Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from the hours of 5-8 pm at Centuries.
Baptized at an early age, May 3, 1953, at Ingleside Baptist Church she continued her dedicated services through volunteering at her church, Westlake Baptist Church, and loved helping with VBS and Crisis Assistance Ministry. She was a longtime member of the Shreveport Chapter of the Women of the Moose where she was honored with a Past Regents Degree. She also spent countless hours volunteering for Special Olympics. She loved fishing, music, gardening, and cheering for the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. She was passionate about family and was a loyal friend and treasured every moment spent with loved ones.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Lucy Graves, Sister, Elaine Doughty , Brother, Leon Graves, Son, Jeffery David Irvine, and David Irvine, the father of her children.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend, Roy Gadd,of Doyline, LA; daughter, Beverly Irvine Young of Shreveport, LA ; Granddaughters, Chelsea Morgan Thomas, of Shreveport and Mackenzie Elise Young, of Shreveport, one sister, Louise Caskey of Shreveport, LA. Son ,daughters, and grandchildren by marriage, Mike Gadd and wife Lynne and their son Justin, of Killeen Tonja Elkins and husband Brian, and their children Meghan, Casey, and Travis, Amy Sipes and husband Stan and their sons, Adam and Jared all of Shreveport, She was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and a multitude of friends.
Honoring Joyce as pallbearers will be Kenneth Doughty, Jimmy Crow, David “Bubba” Irvine, Freddy Strozier, Justin Gadd, Casey Elkins, and Travis Elkins. Honorary pallbearer will be Adam Sipes and John Cariere.
Joyce was full of life and lived everyday to the fullest. Today she is healthy and in the joyful presence of Jesus. She sincerely fought the good fight, finished the race, and always kept the faith. Joyce leaves an incredible legacy to her daughter and grandchildren whom she adored. “Her children arise and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28
