She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Walter Sterling King.
Joyce is survived by her two children: Norman Eugene, his wife Lee; and Mark Stephen, his wife Sherry. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Ashlee King Thomas and husband, Chris; Jordann King; J. C. Huckabee; and Danielle Johnson and husband, Clint; five great-grandchildren, Austin Michael Ballard, Morgan Elizabeth Huckabee, Tyson Stephen Johnson, Luke David Thomas, Emilee Grace Thomas, Cason Alexander Huckabee and Drake Vincent Ramey; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was born in Jamaica on August 22, 1925, to the late Randolph Barrington and Florence Alexander. She married Walter Sterling King on September 10, 1947, and they shared 67 beautiful years together.
Joyce E. King was a resident of Newport Beach, California, for over 40 years before moving to Louisiana in late 2012. She proudly served the Newport Beach community for many years as a small-business owner-first bringing beauty to homes through her interior design business, Gallerie of Interiors, and later through her jewelry business, Fabulous Faux. Her timeless elegance and natural gift for design will be remembered by all who knew her.
The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the staff and administrators of The Oaks of Louisiana, especially the staff and caregivers of Savannah at the Oaks, for their constant loving care and kindness to our precious mother. We also wish to express our deep gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their loving kindness and care in her final days.
Private services will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, California, in early November.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
