Joyce Mae Hillier Wood

Graveside services celebrating the life of Joyce Hillier Wood, 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on September 2, 1923 in Bossier City, LA. Mrs. Wood and her late husband, Tom Neal Wood were members of Noel United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and collecting antiques.

Preceding Mrs. Wood in death were her husband of 68 years, Tom Neal Wood; parents, Harry Hillier, Sr. and Augusta Hillier Nix and one brother, Harry Hillier, Jr.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Joyce are her daughters, Julie Crenshaw and husband Jerry of Dallas, Texas and Cynthia Wood of Shreveport; one sister, Marie Smith and husband Perry of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Jerry Crenshaw, Jr. and wife Lori, Jill Huddleston and husband Lee, Rebecca Lytle and Cassandra Lytle Tilton; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Betty Hillier and several nieces.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Christus Schumpert Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Wood. The family also wishes to thank Lucy Frazier who was her caregiver for many years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY-10016.
