Juanita honorably served in the United States Air Force. During her time in the service she meet the love of her life, George Edwards, when they were both stationed in Texas. Together they were stationed and lived in many different states, starting their family along the way. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother or Tutu, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She retired as a secretary for the LSU Medical School. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the Veterans Home but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Juanita absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, George W. Edwards, Laura Wheeler and her husband Robert; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Edwards; son, Robert F. Edwards; daughter-in-law, Joyce Edwards; great grandson, Wayne Douglas Johnson III; her parents and numerous siblings.
A visitation for Juanita will occur Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Centuries Memorial Park Pavilion with Air Force Honors.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Northwest LA Veterans Home for the care she received as a resident.
