Kathryn Criss McClure, age 83, of Greenwood Louisiana passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday February 12, 2025. She was known for her beauty and elegance as well as her platinum blonde hair. She took pride in presenting her best self everyday which usually meant taking time “putting her face on” including beautiful long eyelashes. She had impeccable taste and style that rivaled any Hollywood movie star. Katy never met a stranger and delighted in making others feel loved and appreciated. She will be truly missed by those that knew her and loved her.
Katy was born January 30, 1942 in Norman, Oklahoma to Marion Criss and Patricia Mae Moore. She was the youngest of seven siblings. She grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she met and married the love of her life Wayne Lee McClure and they had three children Kevin, Kelly & Kristina. Wayne and Katy both worked for Western Electric in Oklahoma and their careers brought them to Shreveport Louisiana in the early seventies. Katy held the position as supervisor and retired from AT&T/ Lucent Technologies in 1987 but decided that retirement was not for her so she worked for Super 1 until the early 2000’s.
Katy enjoyed talking with and meeting new people and watching old movies. She was known in her neighborhood as the lady who always had the garage sales, which she admitted she had to be able to visit with people. She attended church at Calvary Baptist Church for many years and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was faithful to read her devotional every morning underlining and highlighting what she felt to be important and often shared them with her loved ones via text. Her children and grandchildren always knew how much she loved them and she went out of her way to do whatever they wanted. Katy loved America and showed it proudly by wearing her American flag scarf just about everyday.
Katy is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Wayne McClure, second husband Bobby Lee, and son Kelly McClure, brothers Winfred & Richard, sisters Helen, Clara Mae & Shirley, grandsons Michael & Trey Holleman. She is survived by sister Linda, son Kevin McClure (Marianna) & daughter Kristina Dickerson (Mark), daughter in law Margaret McClure, step children Ricky Lee, Randy Lee & Venetia Caudle, grandchildren Summer Loyd, Shanna Lee Bray (Charlie), Julie Whitaker (Jeremy), Cody Lee (Addison), Makenzie McClure, Shayla Finklea, Rainey Grisham, Neely Lewis (Landon), Christopher Holleman, Lindsey Finklea, Hannah & Emma Loyd, great-grandchildren Addyson, Khloe, Walker, Brynlee, Blakely, Emerie, Arthur and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life memorial for Kathryn will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108.
