Mr. Kenneth “Ken” Ray Rowan, 83, of Frierson, LA passed away on May 20, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on March 2, 1935 in Van Zandt County, TX, to the late Ruth Ida Mae Pope Rowan and the late Albert Clifford Rowan. He lived in Ben Wheeler, TX and graduated from Van High School in 1953. He moved to Shreveport in 1955 and worked for several Heating and Air Conditioning companies. He became a partner in Hamaker, Inc. in 1973 and became the owner-operator of All Weather Heating and Air Conditioning in 1983 until retiring in 2002.
Kenneth was the beloved husband of Paula McAlister Rowan for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Ray Rowan; and sister, Hazel Rowan Johnson. Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Lea Ann Forrest Breen and Dana Rowan Favrot and husband John; brothers, Floyd Rowan and wife Paulette and Lloyd Rowan; and grandchildren, Jodie Forrest Semon, Kenneth Favrot and wife Jill, Zachary Favrot and wife Amanda, Emily Favrot, Christy Rowan Reynolds and husband Richard, and Kelly Rowan Wagg as well as 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He loved fishing, watching all LSU sports, all levels of basketball and life on the farm. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a hardworking, loving, and dedicated father.
Donations in Kenneth’s name to Alzheimer’s Association are welcome and appreciated. The family wishes to thank Delois, Shelton, Candy, Raven and all the staff of Preferred Care at home for their excellent help in caring for Mr. Rowan. Thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care and Aime Hospice Care for their kindness during this time. And a special thank you to Dr. Richard Michael for his exceptional attention, care and kindness. We would like to recognize the Krewe of Atlas for their support of our family and their dedication to funding Alzheimer’s Research and Caregiver Support.
