Randy was part of a military family which took him many places during his life, from being born in Topeka, Kansas, to Germany, Tucson, Arizona and finally making home in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Woodlawn High School and then worked at Libbey Glass for 30 plus years before retiring. He was a very hard worker and trained many people to work the hot end machine’s at Libbey Glass. He knew how to work any machine in the whole building and could outwork any youngster on those machines.
Randy loved his motorcycle and riding the roads. You always knew when he was coming when you heard that Harley rumble down the road. He loved being outside by the fire with friends and enjoying a cold “Bud”. He was a handy man who loved building porches, roofs, and working on machines and vehicles. He loved his guns and had a very large collection, to scare the boys away from his daughter. He loved his friends and family and if he wasn’t at home sometimes, you could find him at the Highway Lounge hanging out with friends and enjoying that good ole cold “Bud”. He loved his cat, Jesse, who was more like a dog than a cat as he would follow you anywhere. He will be deeply missed for all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Mary V. Weldon; daughter, Mary Weldon Wilcher and husband Kenneth J. Wilcher; nephew, David D. Weldon, grandchildren, Kimber and Kiptyn Wilcher; and ex-wife, Donna Weldon. He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey C. Weldon and brother, David E. Weldon.
A memorial celebration for Randy will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
