It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Elizabeth Bowman, a beloved wife, sister, mother, and ‘Mouse.’ Laura was born July 20, 1964, in Shreveport, LA, to her adoring parents, the late Robert John Holland and Joan Michel Holland. She shared her life inseparably, from beginning to end, with her twin sister, Robin. Laura peacefully went to be with our Lord on June 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Laura grew up in Shreveport, LA, where she developed a passion for the great outdoors. Whether at her cabin in the mountains of Mena, AR, traveling West to America’s greatest wonders, walking through vineyards tasting various wines, motorcycle riding down roads less travelled, photographing God’s masterpieces or simply sitting on her back patio with a book and her German Shepherds, she found comfort and peace in nature.
Anyone who knew Laura, knew that she was an avid LSU fan. She loved cheering on the Tigers and would not dare miss a game. Her family always joked that they could hear her yells and cheers across town whenever they scored. She also took every opportunity to say, “Geaux Tigers!” to everyone she saw out and about repping the purple and gold.
Laura’s wisdom and commitment did not go unnoticed as a radiologic supervisor for Willis-Knighton. She spent the last 39 years leading with compassion and patience, touching several hearts and minds, while also being a second mother to many. As a leader, Laura led by example and was respected by her peers through her diligence, professionalism and caring nature. She always had a kind word or gave encouragement and support to anyone in need. Her dedication and smiling face will be sadly missed by numerous patients and coworkers as she is leaving behind a remarkable legacy.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Laura’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and devoted wife to her beloved husband, Clint Bowman. Laura and Clint lived their lives around God, family and friends. Her love for Jesus Christ illuminated through her and was a true testimony. Laura was an amazing mother to her children, and she adored her only grandson, Jameson, who affectionately called her ‘Mouse.’ Laura cherished every moment spent with her family, leaving nothing but love and memories behind.
Laura will be deeply missed by her devoted loving husband of 16 years, Clint, and children, Madison Gilliam (Brett), Joshua Cooley (Jada), and Mackenzie Kellogg (Alexander). She will also be fondly remembered by her siblings, Kirk Holland (Kathy), Michael Holland (Terri), and Robin Gras (Gary). As well as numerous nieces, nephews, a host of extended family and friends, and her two German Shepherds, Shady and Oakley, who were touched by her kind and loving spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joan Holland; nephew, Christopher Holland; and Samoyed, Noli.
To honor the life of Laura Bowman, the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church at 290 Idema Street, Shreveport, LA, with Pastor Perry Culver officiating. Laura will then be laid to rest at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers to carry her to her final resting place include Joshua Cooley, Brett Gilliam, Alexander Kellogg, Matthew Holland, Daniel Clark and Shelton Booth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family would also like to thank Christina Graham with Willis-Knighton Hospice and the Willis-Knighton medical team that have treated Laura throughout the years.
