Ray and Betty Steward welcomed Ralph Leon into this world on June 30, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA. Leon passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the age of 76, Now watching the stars from Heaven's view.
His parents preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jane (Gulnac) Stewart; children, Shella Taylor and Keith Stewart; grandchildren, Dakota, Hunter and Chance Mills; great grandchild, Ryker Mills; siblings, Rae Marie Wetmore, Bonnie Grammer, and Kolene Causer; and many other family members and dear friends.
How do you express in mere words the life of a man? I do not believe that you can. But what memories a man leaves behind, and the hearts that he has impacted, show how he truly lived. Leon was a man that truly knew how to live. If you were blessed enough to experience the memories with him along the way you knew, each moment was an opportunity for stories and new adventures. A chance to learn and experience what the Lord has in store for you. He was never afraid to follow his dreams. (Even if it went against popular belief!)
There were moments that his own path changed direction as obstacles and opportunities would direct him in another place. Each experience along the way making him the man that he became. Leon lived a full life, from driving coast to coast and sailing sea to sea. At last, Leon and his beautiful wife Jane retired in Louisiana.
He was always up for: a midnight snack, a good book, a hot cup of coffee, a good hand of cards, a cold glass of bourbon, trying to make a waitress smile, a challenge he faced, helping an underdog, finding a deal!, hearing good music, teasing his sisters, dancing, holding a baby, ice cream, petting a dog, teaching his grandsons, solving a mystery, treasure hunts, making new friends, a BLT, flirting with his wife, loving his family, or of course... telling a story.
He and his beautiful wife Jane retired in a charming small town in Louisiana.
Leon would want you to remember the times that he shared with each one of you, and that you would smile at the memories-- and keep making more!
He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend.
He was a child at heart, a story teller, and a man on which you could depend.
He would sing you songs in the morning, and smile at the moon at night,
He would be the hand to help you up and stand up for what was right!
He could watch people for hours, just to see what he could see
He walked each path - whether short or long, as part of his destiny.
He dreamed big dreams, he smiled, he cried-- he was always up for fun.
He loved so deep, he laughed so free, he struggled, he fought, he won!
He grew, he ran, he raced, he learned, he failed, and he stood
He spoke with wisdom, he smiled with mischief, and was sometimes misunderstood
His life was full of adventures, of family and friends, and trials and victories too
He would want you to smile, and live life to its fullest, while the Lord still has work for you
