Leon Frank Taylor was born to Rose Anne Belk and Thomas Alonzo Taylor in Fayette, AL on September 26, 1927. The family moved to Augusta, AR. Leon graduated from Augusta High School and attended Lyons College in Batesville, AR and attended one year at Arkansas State in Jonesboro. He moved to Shreveport, LA in 1953, where he worked for 38 years at First National Bank assuming the position of Vice President before retiring.
Leon loved the outdoors. His interest were fishing, hunting and golf. In his waning years, he settled for watching the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers, although his favorite baseball team was the St. Louis Cardinals. He was active in the Louisiana Wildlife Federation.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Walters and husband Mike and Patricia Cope and husband Rick; son, Thomas “Tim” Taylor; one granddaughter; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; one infant son, James Taylor; three brothers, Marshall Taylor, Thomas L. “Pig” Taylor, and infant brother Garland; one infant sister Donna Taylor.
A memorial service for Leon will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Heights Baptist Church.
