Levy E. “Joe” Berry III, 85, was born February 10, 1941, in Springhill, Louisiana, and passed away June 29, 2026. Joe made his home in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he lived with steady faith and a deep devotion to those he loved most.
Joe graduated from Springhill High School, where he played football, and went on to earn a B.S. Degree in Business from Louisiana Tech. While at Louisiana Tech, he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He also served in the Coast Guard Reserves, a reflection of the quiet sense of duty that marked his life.
In the rhythms of everyday life, Joe’s presence was constant and dependable. He regularly attended LSU football games with his buddies, never missed a chance to be at his daughters’ performances in the Caddo Cuties Marching group, and faithfully attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. He cherished the fellowship of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study men’s group at Denny’s and found joy in welcoming others as a door greeter every Sunday morning at Brookwood Baptist Church.
Joe also gave his time to the community in ways that were practical and unassuming, coaching for the Brookwood Athletic Association and serving for many years as a team host for the Independence Bowl. In all things, Joe remained a quiet, humble man whose greatest joy was loving and caring for his family—a legacy of steady kindness that will continue to be felt for generations.
Joe is survived by his wife, Judy Magee Berry; daughters, Jodi Berry (David) and Juli Berry Joiner (Mitch); grandchildren, Mitchell Joiner (Tiffany), Makayla Joiner, and Alexis Boddie; great-granddaughter, Marley Kate Joiner; and sister, Sue Bramlett. He was preceded in death by his father, Levy E Berry II; his mother, Louise Cooper Berry; and his infant son, Jason Scott Berry.
Visitation will be held at Brookwood Baptist Church, 9014 Brookwood Church Way, Shreveport, LA 71106, on July 3, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Brookwood Baptist Church on July 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Centuries Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Mitch Joiner, David Kendrick, Mitchell Joiner, Eric Brumley, Larry Bramlett, and Rob Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tuesday morning breakfast men's group to include John Albritton, John Alvarez, Daryl Mackinnon, Bobby Wolf, Gary Waldrop, Kem Brown, Ronnie Hurd, Eugene Rachal, Lee Hopper, and John Harp.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Nightingale Hospice; Willis Knighton 4th floor; Dr. Andrew Werner; and to his sitters, Rosalind Brown, Keisha Robinson, Antonio Cartwriter, and Heather Williams for their care and kindness.
