

Lois Harper Goodwine, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at The Blake at Bossier City. She was born on July 20, 1942 in Murphysboro, Illinois to parents, Harry Lester Harper and Lenora Jeane Willmann Harper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry J. Goodwine, her parents, and her sister, Jacquellyn Harper Pfender.
Survivors include her sister, Patricia Harper Hendrix; nieces, Elizabeth Hendrix and Laura Pfender and her spouse, Beth, and daughter, Evan; nephews, Michael Pfender, Stephen Pfender and his spouse, Julie, and his children, Graham Pfender, Remy Pfender, and Olivia Pfender Wood; Chris Pfender and fiancée, Hester Knecht, and his children, Delaney and Ian Pfender. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Robert Pfender; cousins, David Pike, Tim Bowyer, Jeff Hancock, and Julie Hancock Parkhill, and her aunt Ann Harper Hancock.
As "Air Force brats", Lois and her sisters, along with their parents, lived in many locations. Their journey included a homestead in Wasilla, Alaska, followed by a return to their family roots in West Frankfort, Illinois. From there, they moved to Levittown, Long Island, New York; Orlando, Florida; and finally, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
Lois was a 1960 graduate of Bossier High School and a 1961 graduate of Ayer’s School of Business. She served as Business Manager of MidSouth Orthopedics and later worked for Delta Pathology. She was also a Caddo Parish Notary Public. She was a member the First Baptist Church, Blanchard, Louisiana.
Lois had a deep loved for animals, often rescuing abandoned strays, providing them with veterinary care, and giving many of them a loving home. She was an avid reader, a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and cherished the wildlife around her home on Cross Lake.
For the past year and a half, Lois made her home at The Blake at Bossier City, where she formed special bonds with her caregivers. Heather, an exemplary nurse, visited her even during hospital stays. Liz and Jackie, her nursing assistants, and LaToya, another compassionate nurse, provided her with attentive care. Jackie, her housekeeper, offered not only her services but also warm hugs that meant so much. The family will always be grateful to The Blake staff for their dedication and care for Lois.
She was laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park next to her loving husband.
