A visitation will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 2:00 – 3:00p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow. Officiating will be Dr. Kenny Joyner.
She attended elementary school in Farmerville, LA. She was baptized at eleven years of age under the ministry of an itinerate pastor in a make-shift baptistry which had been built across the street from the church and supplied with water from a local fresh water spring.
Louise was the youngest of the family and adored her two older brothers, Vern and Henry.
Her family later moved to Simsboro, LA where she remained until middle of her junior year when they relocated to Shreveport where she graduated from Fair Park High School. She then graduated from Norton Business College in Shreveport where she joined the faculty. She met and married the love of her life, Rusty Choate. They were married 53 years. Following her teaching career at Norton, she worked with her husband nearly 30 years in their family business, Britt & Choate, Inc., until retiring in the late 1980s.
She was a faithful member of Queensborough Baptist Church which became Willow Point Baptist Church where she continued serving for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Resta Joseph “Rusty” Choate, two brothers, Albert Vern Britt and wife, Marge, and James Henry Britt and wife, Lola.
She is survived by her sons, Resta Lynn Choate, wife Julie and Britt Kevin Choate; four grandchildren, Adam Choate; Meredith Choate Vanderplas and husband, Samuel; Bradley Choate and Britney Choate Dungan and husband Stephen; great-grandchildren, Jack, Teddy, Clara, Brooks, William, Lincoln and Kennedy and another on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The last ten years of her life were spent at The Oaks of Louisiana where she not only made her home but found deep joy and satisfaction renewing and making new friendships. Louise found her deepest joys by tending to the needs of others.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Willow Point Baptist Church, 5500 S. Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71119.
