Lula was a member of First Southern Methodist Church of Stonewall, LA. She was a caregiver for her husband for 53 years until his death in 2010. Lula was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed making candy for everyone at Christmas. She was a firm supporter of our country and a firm believer in the gospel. She enjoyed music and dancing. For a short time back in the 1950's to early 1960's, she played the organ for funerals at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Hodge, Sr.; parents; sister, Floreta Johnson, and son-in-law, Roger Dale Candler.
She is survived by her son, John N. Hodge, Jr., and wife Karen Wynn Hodge; her daughter, Lula Hodge Candler; grandsons, John N. Hodge, III (Trey) and wife Angelique, Randy Hodge and wife Sarah, and Corey Candler; granddaughter, Anita Candler; great grandchildren, Cade, Sofia and Vivian. She is also survived by nephew, Larry Johnson and wife Tressie in Ramsey, Indiana; cousins, Ronnie and Dan Crawford.
Honoring the family as pallbearers will be John N. Hodge, III, Randy Hodge, Corey Candler, Jud Hodge, Robert Hodge, Dan Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Crawford.
A Visitation with family will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Rev. McKee Williams.
