Mary Nell Shepard Tuminello, 88, born June 23, 1938, in Patmos, Arkansas to Monte and Ruby May Shepard, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Mary was a woman of steady compassion and kind-hearted grace, whose presence brought comfort in quiet, enduring ways. She lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, and will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe Tuminello; her parents; her sisters, Bernice Jordan, Bonnie Blunt, and Lucy Hendrick; and her brothers, Willie Shepard, James Shepard, and Frank Clark.
Mary’s memory is cherished by her children, David Randall Tuminello and wife Glenda, and Howard (Jay) Tuminello and wife Brenda; her grandchildren, Ami, David, and Phillip Tuminello; her brother, Butch Clark and wife Carolyn; and numerous great grandchildren, special friends, and extended family.
A beloved homemaker, Mary devoted herself to the care of her home and family with a gentle attentiveness that made others feel valued and at ease. She found joy in working in her flower beds—especially her azaleas—bringing beauty and care to the spaces she tended. Known as a great cook, she also loved to bake special treats during the holidays, offering warmth and tradition through the simple, meaningful gifts of her kitchen. In quieter moments, Mary enjoyed reading during her pastime and talking on the phone to her friends and family, who were steady companions that suited her thoughtful spirit.
A visitation will be held on July, 28, 2026 at 10:00am at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Centuries Memorial Park.
