Melba J Carney

Melba J. Carney, age 71, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023. She was born September 4, 1951 in Monroe, Louisiana to Mary Tanner and Melvin Welch. Services for Mrs. Melba will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at Centuries Memorial Park at 11:00am with Tony Nations officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services from 10:00am until 11:00am at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Melba will be Montana Welch, Matt Welch, Michael Welch, Richard Marsh, Kyle Gibbs, and Bobby Sharpley. PFC Jeremiah Jordan will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Melba loved many things in life, including cruises, sewing, gardening and online shopping. She was also a dedicated nurse and retired from Willis Knighton Medical Center in 2014 with over 30 years of service under her belt.

Melba leaves behind her husband, Rickey Carney; daughters Candais Ferguson, Melanie Cole Alley and Husband Harmon, and Terri Jordan and husband Jeremy; step-sons Bobby Sharpley, and Michael Hardesty and wife Audry; grandkids Heather Gibbs and husband Kyle, Ashley Nelson and husband Anthony, Stephanie Cole and fiance' Alex Gamble, Jeremiah Jordan, Josiah Jordan, Alyssa Burge and husband Nick, Andrea Hardesty, Silvia Sharpley and Stormy Sharpley; great-grandkids Lacelyn Shaulis, Cane Gamble, Rylee Gibbs, Harlee Gibbs, and Waylon Burge; brothers Michael Welch and Melvin Welch Jr.; niece, Mary Sikes and husband Dan; nephews Michael Welch Jr., Matt Welch, Bo Welch, and Montana Welch. She also leaves behind numerous great- nieces and nephews.

She joins in Heaven her father, Melvin Welch; mother, Mary Tanner; brother, Monty Welch; and sister-in-law, Vickie Welch.
